Manage Contacts

To add, update, or delete contacts for WhatsApp messaging, use the core Contact List APIs.

WhatsApp contacts are part of your organization's unified contact management system, allowing you to manage contacts across all communication channels (calling, WhatsApp, etc.) from a single API.

Contact Management APIs​

Refer to the Contact List APIs for:

  • Creating contacts - Add new contacts to your organization
  • Updating contacts - Modify existing contact information
  • Deleting contacts - Remove contacts from your system
  • Retrieving contacts - Get contact details and lists
  • Assigning contacts - Assign contacts to specific users
  • Unassigning contacts - Unassign contacts from users

All contacts created through the Contact List APIs are automatically available for WhatsApp messaging.

Using Contacts with WhatsApp​

Once you've created contacts using the Contact List APIs, you can:

  1. Send WhatsApp messages to them using the Send Message endpoint
  2. View their conversation history using the Get Messages endpoint
  3. See all contacts with WhatsApp conversations using the List Contacts endpoint
