One of the biggest distractions in a meeting is our cell phones. Most of us think that by keeping the cell phone in a silent mode is a good idea. With the constant phone vibration and our addiction to check our phones once every 15 minutes, it’s a clear indication that we are not actually solving the actual distraction issue.
The best way is to address is this issue is by turning off the phone. You might think this is something that you already knew. But the real question is how do we manage it. We can include a 5-minute phone break every 30 to 40 minutes of the meeting.
This way, we don’t feel that we are missing by turning off the phone. This is one of those small changes that would yield the maximum benefit if done right.
